BCCA COMMUNITY GUIDELINES
OVERVIEW

The quiet enjoyment and preservation of our community should be a priority for us all. The Community Guidelines are intended to help cultivate and maintain the safety and the beauty of our community and its neighborhoods, and to promote the continuation of Broyhill Crest as a desirable and pleasant place to live. Moreover, as homes are the principal investments of most families, we cannot afford to permit our properties to diminish in value through lack of attention to our environment. There is a direct and proven relationship between the value of one’s home and the quality of its neighborhood.
We trust these guidelines will both foster a common understanding which can unify the neighborhood diversity we enjoy, and serve as a family pledge to uphold its precepts.

COMMON ACTIONS
As a member of the Broyhill Crest community, it is each resident’s responsibility to support these common actions:

  • We will respect ourselves and our neighbors by maintaining a neat residential appearance of our property through appropriate home maintenance and lawn care, maintaining clear sidewalks, removing rubbish, adhering to vehicle care and parking regulations, and reasonably expeditious completion and clean-up of construction or renovation projects.

  • We will show courtesy to each other by reducing noise in consideration of our community.

  • We will support one another’s safety and the security of each other’s property by taking actions to watch over our children, to be vigilant to perpetual traffic offenders and to deter potential criminals from being attracted to our homes and neighborhoods; and by being ever watchful and alert for suspicious activity. neighbors and by managing our pets so that others may live annoyance-free.

  • We will support one another’s safety and the security of each other’s property by taking actions to watch over our children, to be vigilant to perpetual traffic offenders and to deter potential criminals from being attracted to our homes and neighborhoods; and by being ever watchful and alert for suspicious activity.

  • We will, from a practical and business point of view, protect each other’s investment by being concerned about the quality of the condition of our community, its neighborly character, its natural beauty, and its upkeep.

  • We will all work together, welcoming newcomers, settling differences between us with a mutually positive attitude, and meeting challenges to our neighborhood integrity by developing a common unified effort.

The foregoing is not intended to be construed as covenants nor intrusions upon the quiet enjoyment of one’s personal lifestyle, but rather it is to serve as a friendly reminder of community expectations, for which ultimate enforcement of violations will be guided by community opinion and provisions of the Code of Fairfax County.

These guidelines were developed in 1994, but apply equally today. They have been approved by the Broyhill Crest Community Association Board and reaffirmed several times, most recently in 2009.
